What we do
Profile Cutting
Lightning Aerospace offer a bespoke profile cutting service covering all stages of production, from computer aided design and development to prototyping and eventual full production. All of our cutting services are also available for sub-contractor use.
Water Jet
Water Jet Cutting, capable of cutting armour plate (both aluminium and steel), stainless steel, steel, aluminium, ceramics, leather, plastic, rubber, wood, cork and polystyrene, amongst others.
Whether it’s a single prototype or a large-scale batch, our water jet cutting services can also be offered with an optional 24 hour rapid turn abound facility.
Laser
Lightning Aerospace uses a 4KW Bystronic Laser machine. This can be used to cut, scribe or bore durable non-flammable materials such as iron, aluminium and carbon-reinforced steel.
We also offer a 24 hour rapid turn around facility for time-critical projects
Fabrication
Lightning Aerospace’s comprehensive fabrication capabilites extend to all aspects of material profiling, cutting, welding and forming.
We are experts in MIG, TIG and ARC welding, using an expansive variety of materials, such as stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium, titanium and armoured steel/aluminium.
All of our welding conforms to:
BS EN 287-1 (Steel, Stainless Steel and Armoured Steel)
BS EN 9606-2 (Aluminium and Aluminium Armour)
All are welders are fully codified and have to pass stringent internal and external tests, against
BS EN 287 and BS 4872.
Lightning Aerospace operates a dedicated machine shop, enabling a flexible yet rapid response to customer’s needs, using our leading edge machines.
Some of our other fabrication services offered include CNC turning and milling, together with traditional machining and CAD-CAM programming.
Whether it’s a unique prototype or a large scale production run, our fabrication team can help you bring to fruition your creative engineering solutions whilst keeping cost and quality in mind.
Harnessing
Lightning Aerospace offers a dedicated harness shop for all your harnessing needs. Throughout every stage of production, from the computer aided design ‘board’ to our on site build facility, we offer an efficient and professional client facing service.
We have an on-site service team that can help configure your intstallation, from routing prototype cable sets, providing technical assistance, supporting field trials to consultancy and termination on site if required. Our aim is to ensure that your installation of kit runs as smoothly as possible. With a wide range of platform experience on a number of military and commercial vehicles, we operate a 24 hours 7 days a week service.
We also offer a fully automated harness testing service using an MK automeg test machine.

Assembly
Assembly is the final stage of the production process.
This is the last stop for all the material that has been firstly cut by the profile cutting department, then shaped and formed by the fabrication team and soldered and cabled by the harnessing department. Lightning Aerospace also offers a bespoke packaging service too, encapsulating every strata of production.
The sythesis of many efforts are culminated here, whether it is a one-off prototype to show a potential investor or a technically complex large volume output, we are here to serve your needs and requirements.
